One narration tells us that when Hazrat Ibrahim was constructing the Holy Kabba, he stood on this stone while lifting Hazrat Ismail on his shoulders to adjust the stones that were present in height. This stone meltdown under Ibrahim’s feet and the footprints engraved on that stone, that are still miraculously preserved on that stone.

Some historical facts say that when Ibrahim was constructing the Holy Kaaba, when the walls became higher, Allah sent stones from heaven, Ibrahim A.S stood on this stone, and this stone lifted him automatically at the height Ibrahim was doing construction. And when Ibrahim needs to lower down to pick up the stones this stone lowers him down.

This is the most sacred stone and asset in the history of Islam, dating back some 4000 years. This stone is present in a square glass, covered with a beautifully engraved, golden cage. The stone is 8 inches in height, 14 inches in width, and 15 inches in length.

 Ibn Kathir narrated, “Proclaim (O Ebrahim) the Hajj to the people, calling them to come on pilgrimage to this House which We have commanded you to build.”

To which the Prophet said, “O Lord, how can I proclaim it to the people when my voice does not reach them?”

Allah then said, “Call and We will convey it.” So, he stood at his Maqam (station) and said: “O people, your Lord has taken a House, so come to it on pilgrimage.”

Importance of Maqam e Ibrahim:

Which Surah to Read at Maqam Ibrahim?

While you have completed your tawaf around Holy Kabba, it is time to offer two Rakat in front of Maqam Ibrahim (Ibrahim Station). You should recite surah al-Kafirun in the first rakat and Surah Ikhlas in the second Rakat, after the recitation of surah al-fatiha.
